Allie and the rest of her litter arrived with a bang, unexpectedly early!  She has been announcing her demands ever since!!

She charmed her way into our hearts, and we had planned to keep her – but then she charmed her way into the hearts of co-owners Dan Cox and Jen Chang, and she is now in charge of them and her buddy, their boy Appa!

We are immensely grateful to Jim Petersen for the opportunity to have this litter.

We are also very proud to note that from this same litter comes  her brother Alfie – TDGCH Sancha’s Alfio Sings for Lola AtoZ – the FIRST EVER Grand Champion Trick titled Samoyed in the World!!

Which one of these is not like the others?!  Kalina is a Yakutian Laika – the first of her breed in Canada and one of only a few in North America.

Kalina is co-owned with friend Dawne Deeley; after one day when we were chatting and said to one another – have you see that “new’ Spitz breed in Russia? We discovered shared enthusiasm for introducing this breed to Canada and the rest was history.  Not a new breed by any stretch, the YL is at least as old as the Samoyed Breed, and may have shared history – lost in the past! At any rate, we are thrilled to have this girl here with us – a intelligent and gentle girl, sweet natured and almost too smart for her own good! She gets along with all our Sams, mothers the puppies,  snuggles the cats, and cuddles with Paul!  She charms everyone she meets!

You can see  information and photos of Kalina’s first litter on our blog at https://kalinayl.blogspot.com/

There is a new blog with photos and updates on Kalina’s second litter here https://kalina2ndlitter.blogspot.com/

You can also see pictures of her daughter Kira on her own page!

Kira is the girl we kept from the first Yakutian Laika born in Canada. She is a daughter of our Kalina and Maks. We are working on getting the Canadian Kennel Club to recognize the breed – at present both Maks and Kalina are registered with the Russian Kennel Federation (RKF). We co own Kira with Dawne Deeley, to whom we are immensely grateful for the opportunity to introduce this wonderful breed to Canada!

We had planned this litter for some time, a breeding that combined several lines we wanted to incorporate into our own.  Yoda was the boy we chose to keep from this breeding, and we co-own him with our friend Florence Hawdon Conway, in Ontario.

His litter brother Appa is now Ch Sancha’s YipYip Sky Bison, and his litter sister Quila has finished her championship and started to play in other arenas – She is now known as

Ch Sancha Y Samoden Gran Cosa, HCT-s, HT-s

Yoda is growing up – and altho he is not crazy about it, he has some good days in the show ring too!

We have never before repeated a breeding but we were very happy with the results from this litter the first time, (see the picture below of older sister Sochi).  Since we didn’t keep anything, we decided to do it again! Our plan was to keep a girl this time, and since there was only one girl in the litter of 5, this was our keeper!

She has started her show career well, first winning Best Baby Puppy in Spitz Breed Theme show, and then winning Best of Breed over a Special and Best Puppy in Group her first time out in the official show ring, though she would not stand still for photos!

Zena had an amazing year – finishing her Championship in only a couple of weekends, winning numerous Adult Group placements and Best Puppy in Show on the way – with the result that she has ended 2018 as #9 Samoyed in the Breed and #3 Puppy – we have high hopes for her future!

In 2019, Zena earned her Grand Championship in Canada; and not to be outdone, her litter brother ZeeDee in Colorado has now earned his Am Championship too!
