Just wanted to leave a comment that I adopted a wonderful male Samoyed from Pat, through Lisa, from Vancouver and I have to say that we couldn’t be more thrilled with him. He is an angel and a wonderful addition to our family. Kody is loved by all who come into contact with him! Margo

He is now a fit 65 pound boy. Congratulations. Our boy gives us so much joy and some headaches too. I hope these three bring as much pleasure as Spirit has brought to us.

Comment on Astra by Samoyedes https://sanchasamoyeds.com/dog/astra-2/#comment-15 Sun, 17 Apr 2011 13:23:32 +0000 http://sanchasamoyeds.com/?p=864#comment-15 There exists an ancient Siberian tribe termed as the Samoyedes. The Siberian terrain may be one of the harshest and most difficult terrain to live in on the globe. The Samoyede people were nomads and moved around frequently carrying their things with them as well as their herds of reindeer. These folks were hunters and fisherman. They used a beautiful and robust dog to pull their sleds as well as for numerous other jobs. Not just did the dogs pull sleds and also herd reindeer, but they additionally hunted animals for food and also clothing. They were even used to hunt polar bears. This dog was later named the Samoyed pursuant to the name of the tribe.

In 1889 the explorer Robert Scott brought many these dogs back to the european countries. It was from England where the breed was developed in its present style, and spread worldwide. The first Samoyed came to America in 1904 when the Princess de Montyglyon presented it as her companion. Today the Samoyed is used as a companion in the average home, but still does maintain a number of qualities that indicate its heritage.
