Pat and Paul Cummins

Paul and I met because he called me about available puppies. Our first date was to a dog sledding meet! Seven years later, our honeymoon was spent at the 1989 SCA National in Detroit/Windsor!

About Pat

My first Sam came to me in 1976, as a gift from a friend.  I acquired my first registered Samoyed in 1978, from Don and Jorie Reed and with their encouragement, I attended my first dog show that same year. That first bit of satin ribbon hooked me! Through my first litter, I also met my husband Paul, when he contacted me to replace his previous dog.

Since then, we have bred some 55 Champion Samoyeds to date, mostly owner-handled, and had two Champion Pembroke Welsh Corgis. Along the way, I finished a CDX on my first Sam, and CD titles on a number of others. I have worked my Sams from time to time in harness, and in herding. In the past, I have also handled a number of other breeds, including the Siberian Husky, Rough Collie, Bearded Collie, Belgian Sheepdog, and Norwegian Elkhound.

I judged my first Sanction match in 1986, and first all-breed Sweepstakes in 1988. Since then I have judged at many matches, and other all-breed sweepstakes, and done specialty sweepstakes for Samoyeds, Boxers, Bullmastiffs, Mastiffs, Akitas, Siberian Huskies, Shiba Inu, and Toy specialties.

In May 2007, I was granted my initial conformation permit for ½ the working group, including Siberian Huskies, Samoyeds, Alaskan Malamutes, and 12 other breeds.

I retired from the Provincial Government in 2006, after working there for 30 years.

My other hobbies include gardening and growing orchids.

About Paul

Paul is rarely seen at dog shows, preferring to stay home and look after the pack at home!

We met when he contacted me to replace his previous dog. I knew of a young adult male looking for a home: in fact, the litter brother to my Lucas.  Thru “Kipper”, Paul was introduced to the sport of showing dogs, and showed this boy, his first registered Samoyed, to the title of Canadian Ch Kenobi’s Luke Skywalker.

He has his own business as a contractor, doing renovations and construction, and has designed and built both our last home and this one.  At one time, he had a business doing autobody and paintwork, and he still loves to tinker on cars. His current projects include restoring an Austin Healey 3000, and a TR4, as well as an old Hovercraft.

He used to drive cars in demolition derbies, but now his hobbies include diving and sailboat racing – making me much happier!
